As with many films, especially those featuring superheroes, The Amazing Spider-Man has an accompanying video game. However, instead of being a direct adaptation of the film, The Amazing Spider-Man video game takes place after the events of the film. With that said, the game only references events in the film, but doesn’t directly show them or explain them much, for that matter. And since the game launched before the film, it can be played without seeing the movie, albeit the game does contain some minor spoilers.

The story here is that the research of Dr. Connors, who became the Lizard in the film, has fallen into the wrong hands, leading to experimentation on “cross-species”, creatures featuring a combination of human and animal DNA. The cross-species featuring in this game are radically different, but very interesting, interpretations of various Spider-Man villains, including Rhino, Scorpion, and Vermin.

The playthrough of the PlayStation 3 version of the game is currently being recorded and streamed simultaneously. As such, the entire playthrough features my first time trying the game out.
