Sonic Adventure 2 is one of the last few games to come out during the final moments of the Dreamcast lifespan. It was later ported to the Nintendo GameCube, in the form of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, with updated visuals, extra chao mini games, and a widely expanded multiplayer mode.

The game has been ported once again, this time with updated HD visuals for current gen consoles, as well as achievement/trophy systems. You have the option of downloading Sonic Adventure 2 by itself, or throw in a little extra cash to upgrade to Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. Being a huge fan of the franchise, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I decided to do a playthrough of the game. However, I’ll be doing things a little differently for this project.

In Sonic Adventure 2, you have the option of playing the game as either the Hero Side (Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles), or the Dark Side (Dr. Eggman, Shadow, and Rouge). The two sides share the overall plot through their own perspectives, but playing through only one of them will reveal only half of what’s happening. For this playthrough of the game, I’ll be showing the entire story in chronological order; switching back and forth between the two sides. Below you can view part one.

Due to the nature of this project, the entire playthrough will have post-commentary only. You can check out more on my playthrough as more videos go live in my Sonic Adventure 2 Battle playlist.
