Spyro the Dragon Trilogy Now Available on European PSN

Rejoice, European PlayStation 3 owners! The original Spyro the Dragon trilogy by Insomniac Games is now available to download from the PlayStation Store!

Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer (known as Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage! here in the US), and Spyro: Year of the Dragon were all originally released on the PlayStation. For comparison’s sake, Spyro the Dragon was available in the North American PSN Store on October 25, 2007, Spyro 2 on May 7, 2009, and Year of the Dragon on May 14, 2009. That means it took over 5 years for the first title to get ported over, and over 3 for the second and third titles.

At least they’re finally available for Europe. These games are all excellent, so if you have a PlayStation 3 and are looking for some fun platformers to download, definitely check out all three!

In addition to contributing to The Gamer's Bench, I also upload video game-related videos regularly on YouTube, as well as stream games on my Twitch TV channel.

  • This title is extremely misleading; there aren’t nearly enough “FINALLY”s in it to draw the point!

But man… its about time. I’d love to know their excuse for taking as long as they have with it… the REAL one, not the one they emailed to me when I inquired about these games, and a number of others. (they told me it was due to Europe being multiple countries… which is absurd)

I’d really love to go and get them now, but given my financial position at the moment, I can’t really do anything but look at them in the store… oh woe… maybe after Christmas… or after MH3U… I dunno… DAMN you, Sony…! *shakes fist angrily*
