Wii U Price Drop, The Wind Waker HD Bundle, & Holiday Line-Up Announced

Have you been waiting for a price drop for the Wii U? Hot off the heels of the announcement of the Nintendo 2DS, Nintendo announced via press release that the Wii U will get a price cut, and a bundle for the console with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD is on the way as well.

The Wii U 32GB Deluxe Set, originally priced at $349.99, goes down to $299.99, effective September 20, 2013. On the same day, a limited-edition Wii U bundle featuring The Wind Waker HD launches. The bundle includes a 32GB Wii U, a special Zelda-embroidered GamePad, a download code for The Wind Waker HD, and a code to download a digital version of The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia (read our review here.

The disc version of The Wind Waker HD launches on October 4, 2013 for $49.99. GameStop will sell an exclusive bundle that includes a Ganondorf figure for $54.99. The download version is available from the Wii U eShop two weeks earlier on September 20.

In addition, Nintendo announced the release dates of several anticipated games, listed below:

  • That Ganondorf figure looks cool so if I do decide to get this game, I’ll probably get the figure with it. I have Wind Waker for GameCube and I don’t really like having two versions of one game unless there are a lot of differences making the game better. I might just use that money towards something else. I’m happy to hear about the release dates for Super Mario 3D World and DKC: TF. I was going to buy one and ask for one for Christmas. Since DK comes out closer to that day, I’ll ask for that one and get SM3DW at launch. Still unsure about those two 3DS games. Maybe someday. Wii Fit U and Wii Party U might be fun so I’ll keep those in mind as well. As for Mario and Sonic, the game looks like fun and it looks great but I got bored of the other games in the series. I might pass on this one.
