The Deer God Successfully Funded on Kickstarter

The Deer God from Crescent Moon Games has been successfully funded on Kickstarter, raising over $51,000, nearly double the amount of the initial goal. The game is an atmospheric, 3D pixel-styled platformer with inspiration from titles such as Sword & Sorcery, Metroid, and Echo the Dolphin.

Through the additional funding, the project met a number of stretch goals. In addition to PC, Mac, and Linux, the game will have console releases on Ouya, Wii U, and Xbox One. A “God Mode” stretch goal was met as well. Unfortunately, the final total was just under the $55,000 necessary to meet the stretch goal for a 3DS version. However, the developer is accepting PayPal donations on the Kickstarter page, so those interested can still donate and pre-order the game, which is scheduled to launch in January 2015.

In addition to contributing to The Gamer's Bench, I also upload video game-related videos regularly on YouTube, as well as stream games on my Twitch TV channel.

  • I’m really looking forward to this; looks absolutely fantastic. It’s a shame we couldn’t reach some of the stretch goals beyond, like the 3DS version and a few additional features for the game, but there’s still hope, I suppose. Maybe the donations he gets through PayPal will sweeten the deal for them to add some of these to the game?

Either way, I’m eagerly awaiting the release of this.
