Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows Expansion Announced
Yacht Club Games, the developer behind the hugely successful 2D throwback platformer Shovel Knight, officially announced an expansion to the game. Titled Plague of Shadows, it will be a free download to those that have purchased the game. And for those that have yet to buy Shovel Knight ( you should, it’s excellent!), the Plague of Shadows expansion will be included with it.
Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows stars Plague Knight, one of the antagonists encountered in the core game. In order to create the “Ultimate Potion,” he must face off against his former allies. Plague Knight features a very different play style from Shovel Knight, making use of bomb jumps, explosives, alchemy, and so on. New objectives, challenges, areas, and bosses are featured in this expansion, so those that have gone through Shovel Knight will certainly have a lot more to do.
Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows is set to launch in Q2 2015 for the Wii U, 3DS, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, PC, Mac, and Linux. The core game is out now for the Wii U, 3DS, PC, Mac, and Linux, with the Sony versions set to launch on April 21, 2015. The Sony versions will feature new content, including the appearance of Kratos from the God of War series as a boss.
Shovel Knight was my favorite game of 2014, and I am really looking forward to this expansion! What do you think of the announcement? Let us know in the comments section!
