Skylanders Battlecast — Intro & Tutorial Gameplay Video
Just a couple days ago, Activision officially launched Skylanders Battlecast for iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire devices. A collectible card game, Skylanders Battlecast is free to download. The game makes use of physical cards that you can buy in packs or sets, and they can be scanned into your game via AR technology. The physical cards are completely optional though, as you can opt to use in-game digital cards that are earned by just playing the game or through (completely optional) in-app purchases. Physical “Battle Packs” cost $9.99, which contains 22 cards, including 3 specific character cards. Booster Packs cost $4.99 and contain a random assortment of cards for your in-game decks. If you have Skylanders SuperChargers, you already have 2 cards for Skylanders Battlecast! Cards for Spitfire and Stealth Elf are included with all Skylanders SuperChargers Starter Packs.
Activision kindly sent me over a package that contained two Battle Packs and two Booster Packs, as well as a loose silver foil card. I played through a bit of the game, and recorded the intro and tutorial for my YouTube channel. You can check out that footage below!
I have to say that I was a little intimidated by the game, as I thought it might be too complicated – that’s why I tend to avoid most cards games. But Battlecast really isn’t all that complicated, and it’s actually really easy to learn. I’ll probably record another gameplay video or so to showcase the cards that I scanned in. I’ll write out a review when I have time to go through more of the game. Until then, enjoy the gameplay video!
